Post-Aliyah Timeline

The following represents a general outline providing a chronological overview of the Post-Aliyah process. Please contact us directly with any specific questions.

  • You will receive partial Sal Klitah – סל קליטה – the absorption basket of financial assistance. Part of the first payment is made in cash at the airport. Then additional payments are paid directly into your bank account
  • You will receive your Teudat Oleh – תעודת עולה – new immigrant Aliyah booklet and a temporary Teudat Zehut – תעודת זהות – identity card at the Misrad HaKlita – משרד הקליטה – Ministry of Integration office in the airport
  • You will register for basic Health Insurance and choose your Kupat Cholim – קופת חולים – Health Fund
  • You will receive the authorization to open a bank account
  • In order to receive financial benefits, you will need to open a bank account shortly after arrival and give the bank details to the local Misrad HaKlita office
  • If you haven’t done so at the airport, you can register for Kupat Cholim at a local branch of the Kupat Cholim you chose or online at their website or at your local post office
  • If you haven’t received one at the airport, apply for your Teudat Zehut at Misrad HaPnim- משרד הפנים – Interior Ministry

  • You need to obtain a biometric Teudat Zehut at Misrad HaPnim.
  • You will receive automatic acquisition of Israeli citizenship unless declined via the ARLI process (for those countries that do not allow dual citizenship)
  • As of March 1, 2024, your rental subsidy will begin seven months after the date of your Aliyah (It will be automatically deposited into your bank account regardless of prior request)
  • Your eligibility for a rental subsidy only begins if you do not own a residence or part of a residence or live in public housing
  • You are no longer allowed to drive on a foreign driver’s license
  • You need to claim your Arnona – ארנונה – municipal real estate tax discount
  • Rental subsidy ends
  • Eligible students must begin studies within 3 years from their date of Aliyah to qualify for assistance from Minhal HaStudentim – מנהל הסטודנטים – Student Authority
  • End of period of Customs exemption on imported goods
  • If you made Aliyah before March 1, 2024, your rental subsidy eligibility will end after five years from your Aliyah
  • If you made Aliyah on or after March 1, 2024, your rental subsidy eligibility will end after four years from your Aliyah
  • Olim are entitled to an income tax reduction benefit up to four and a half years from the date of their Aliyah
  • Olim may convert their valid foreign driver’s license for an Israeli license within five years from the date of their Aliyah
  • End of reduction on Mas Rechisha – מס רכישה – real estate transfer fee for the purchasing of a home
  • Olim are entitled to various free or subsidized Ulpan courses
  • Tax exemption reporting and paying for non-Israeli-sourced income and capital gains applies
  • End of Mortgage Rights for the purchase of your first home in Israel
