Congratulations – it’s official: If you’ve reached the age of retirement in Israel, you’re entitled to a senior citizen card!
Have you already received your senior citizen card?
The card entitles you to a variety of discounts and benefits – so you can enjoy more and pay less.
Who’s eligible to receive the card?
Close to retirement age – even if you have not actually retired – the card is automatically sent to every Israeli citizen who reaches the age of:
67 – men
63 (as of today) – women (Note that the retirement age for women will gradually increase to 65.)
How do you enjoy the discounts?
Simple – just present the senior citizen card. If the card in your possession doesn’t include a photo, present a driver’s license or identity card along with it.
What benefits are you entitled to?
The card provides discounts and benefits in various areas, for example:
Property tax (arnona)
Public transportation
Bank fees
Dental treatments
Entry to national sites
Entertainment – museums, cinema, shows and more
And, there are additional benefits for those who meet certain criteria. For more information – visit the “Kol Zchut” website (Hebrew).
Small tip: It’s worth presenting the senior citizen card even at places that aren’t required to give discounts – you might be pleasantly surprised.
