It’s worth your while to discover: The National Insurance monthly savings plan for children

The National Insurance deposits 57 NIS each month into a savings plan for every child entitled to the child allowance until they reach age 18.
Parents have the option of adding 57 NIS more from the child allowance to double the monthly savings amount, which is worthwhile if feasible.

Important to know:

  • You can choose whether the funds will be saved in a provident fund (kupat gemel) or in the bank.
  • Those whose savings go into a provident fund – may transfer it to another provident fund, but not to a bank.
  • Those whose savings go into the bank, as of January 1, 2025, may switch to a provident fund. In this case, the funds already accumulated remain in the bank, and a new savings account opens in the provident fund. The funds cannot be transferred to another bank.
  • The savings in the provident fund will open during the month following the date you selected your child’s investment track.

For a child whose parents did not choose a savings track, the savings will be managed in a provident fund on a high-risk track.

In provident funds and banks, as well, there are different investment tracks. Parents may choose a track and change it at any time.

It is recommended that you thoroughly check and consult regarding the most suitable track for you!
