Safe access to your home and Mamad – prepare your home for emergency evacuation
These days, we all spend a lot of time in the Mamad (safe room), and it’s important to be prepared in advance in case you need emergency assistance. Preparing your home and Mamad access in advance can save lives and prevent delays in moments of stress and helplessness.
Important tips for quick access in an emergency:
- Do not lock your front door with a deadbolt – When you enter the Mamad, leave the deadbolt open so as not to make it difficult to open quickly.
- Exchange keys with your neighbors – make sure that at least one neighbor you trust has a key to your apartment.
- Leave a backup key outside the house – hide a key in an agreed-upon place in the building or in a utility closet.
- Keep a key inside the Mamad – in case of an emergency, you can hand it over to volunteers outside.
