Are you or your relatives living in Israel and interested in making aliyah?
Important to know: Living in Israel before receiving oleh (immigrant) status affects your rights as new olim!
Absorption basket:
The basket of benefits is given to those who lived in Israel for no more than 24 months (consecutive or cumulative) out of the 3 years preceding receipt of oleh status or eligibility as an oleh.
Other assistance from the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration
Given to those who resided in Israel for no more than 3 years (consecutive or cumulative) out of the 7 years preceding aliyah.
Those who resided in Israel between 3 to 5 years out of the 7 years preceding aliyah are eligible for an oleh certificate but eligible for only partial assistance from the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration.
Those who resided in the country 5 years or more out of the 7 years before changing status are not eligible for an oleh certificate and assistance from the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration.
Take note! Those whose center of life was in Israel, even if they resided in Israel for a period that does not disqualify them for assistance, are not eligible for an oleh certificate and assistance as olim.
Important to know! There are periods of residence that do not count and do not negatively affect eligibility:
A stay of up to 4 months (consecutive or cumulative) during each calendar year.
Participation in the Masa program, Naale, or Selah.
IDF service, national service, service year, pre-military preparatory program, etc.
Academic studies up to 4 years.
Residence here as a diplomat of another country or family member of a diplomat.
Good to know! Even olim who are not eligible for assistance from the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration may be eligible for benefits from government ministries and other entities (tax benefits and more). Check what you’re entitled to!
