Product Warranty – What Does Israeli Law Say?
📋 According to the Consumer Protection Regulations, there is a one-year warranty on the purchase of new products in the following categories: electrical, electronic, and gas products worth over 150 NIS and mechanical mechanisms in furniture.
Solar water heaters and electric water heaters are given a 4-year warranty (for certain parts such as the heating element and thermostat – one year).
📅 The warranty period is counted from the date of receipt of the product.
What does this mean in practice?
🔧 The manufacturer/importer must repair any damage discovered in the product, including replacing parts if necessary – free of charge!
🔄 If it is impossible to repair – the manufacturer/importer must provide an equivalent replacement product or a refund.
🔍If the manufacturer/importer cannot be located – if the product price is over 400 NIS, the seller must provide the warranty himself.
Timeframe for repairs?
⏱️ Large products: refrigerator and freezer – within one business day; stove – within two days; washing machine, air conditioner, dryer, TV over 20 inches, heating oven, baking oven, dishwasher, and solar and electric water heaters – within 3 days; other products – within 7 days.
⏱️ Smaller products – within 10-14 business days.
⏱️ If the seller (and not the manufacturer/importer) provides the warranty – within 3 weeks.
Where is the repair carried out?
🏠 Large products – at the consumer’s home
🚗 Smaller products – the consumer must bring the item to the laboratory/store
